Yakima, Washington - February 10, 2001. Cornerstone Medical, a 14 provider internal medicine and primary care clinic has posted significant returns on investment with their use of ChartConnect electronic medical records system. Administrator Terry Worthylake indicates the most substantial returns come from the elimination of 700 to 900 chart pulls per day for tasks like medicine refills and consults. "ChartConnect pays for itself every two and a half days on chart pulls alone, even if we use the most conservative industry estimate of $3 per pull." he announced. Additional financial returns include eliminating $40,000 per year in nursing dictation costs; saving a 3/4 FTE that had been copying and pasting transcription work into the paper chart; saving physicians from 1-4 minutes per patient encounter or consult; saving physicians another 1-5 minutes because scripts are completed and faxed electronically; and improving physicians quality of life by accessing chart information from the hospital or even from home. The non-financial returns are just as significant according to Dr. Victor Sharpe. Sharpe indicates "Patient satisfaction is up because we give them better information faster. Physician and staff morale has greatly improved due to being in control of information. We all feel we have more quality time to give each patient." About ChartConnect.com |
