SEATTLE, WA -- September 23, 2004 -- OneHealthPort, which uses secure portal technology to support and accelerate the exchange of business and clinical information within its trusted community, announced an agreement with ChartConnect to offer two of ChartConnect's online services to OneHealthPort subscribers. ChartConnect, Inc, a Web-based medical software developer that provides online electronic medical record applications for physician practices and hospitals, will provide two of its services, ChartConnect ResultManager and ChartConnect MedManager, through OneHealthPort's site at www.onehealthport.com beginning in mid-October. The applications will be available to users for a subscription fee, with the option of adding other features – up to and including a full electronic medical record (EMR). "In a bit more than twelve months, the OneHealthPort user base has grown to include more than 9,000 subscribers and almost 4,000 healthcare organizations. It has been our strategy from day one to create a trusted community that meets the needs of multiple health care constituents," said Rick Rubin, president and chief executive officer of OneHealthPort. "Our secure, single sign-on capability means needed health information is easily accessible to practitioners and office staff across multiple platforms and from different health plans, hospitals and other enterprises." The partnership with ChartConnect is one of several upcoming agreements that will add significant value for OneHealthPort's online healthcare community. While some of these new services and product offerings are fee-based, the basic OneHealthPort service—the ability to access local healthcare sites using a single digital credential—will remain completely free to current and new subscribers. "ChartConnect is excited about the OneHealthPort model – bringing together insurers, physician/providers and data providers such as hospitals, laboratories and radiology groups in a secure, collaborative portal," said Greg Jewell, president of ChartConnect. "A large majority of provider offices talk about electronic charts, but keep extending this goal further down the calendar; much of the catch-22 is getting the initial data into the e-chart. The OneHealthPort/ChartConnect partnership will help physician groups achieve this first, critical step. This is an excellent example of connectivity that benefits the entire healthcare community." ChartConnect ResultManager provides a workflow solution that brings outside documents into a result-management tool, connecting physicians with their laboratory, radiology, hospital partners, and even other community providers. The secure, online application enables providers and staff to receive, act on, and manage a patient-centric record of results, reports, referrals and consults. ChartConnect MedManager is a workflow solution for nurses and physicians to better manage their patients' medications and allergies. The online application allows providers or staff to quickly and easily prescribe and refill prescriptions using any pharmacy in the U.S., reducing errors, time and paperwork. OneHealthPort was created by a coalition of health plans, physicians, hospitals, and purchasers that joined together to provide a system of shared, online health information. Since the company's inception last year, 3,801 healthcare organizations and 9,067 individuals subscribers have registered to use OneHealthPort's service. With this new partnership agreement, OneHealthPort subscribers will have the ability to use their single digital credential from OneHealthPort to access ChartConnect ResultManager and ChartConnect MedManager in addition to the secure provider sites they currently have access to: Group Health Cooperative, First Choice Health, Premera Blue Cross, Regence BlueShield, Providence Health System, and Uniform Medical Plan. OneHealthPort was created to help healthcare providers go online to save time and money and increase the productivity of employees. Rather than placing time-consuming phone calls or logging into several different web sites, OneHealthPort users can gain access to information from all participating local health plans and healthcare organizations, and can use online services designed to reduce paperwork and improve clinical care – using only one password. Subscribers register only once and are issued a single digital credential that provides access to all participating sites. To ensure security, subscribers have their identity confirmed to protect against unauthorized access to personal health information. About OneHealthPort About ChartConnect.com |
