ALEXANDRIA, Va. – June 1, 2005 – SureScripts, the nation's largest network provider of electronic prescribing services, announced today that ChartConnect has completed SureScripts' certification process and is now one of sixteen SureScripts Certified Solution Providers™ nationwide. With this certification, all physicians using ChartConnect's online EMR and MedManager™ application will benefit from two-way, electronic communication with pharmacies nationwide—making the prescription process safer, faster and more efficient. Physicians and their staff will be able to receive renewal requests electronically, directly to their computer rather than via phone or fax machine. They will also be able to transmit new prescription orders and refill authorizations directly to the pharmacist's computer. "This will be an important timesaver for our participating clinics. Fax delivery is OK, but it is not as fast as electronic delivery," said Greg Jewell, President, ChartConnect, Inc. Dr. Stephen Carson, MD, the San Diego County Medical Society Foundation's Chief Medical Officer said that ChartConnect's community focus distinguished it from other electronic medical records. "When we heard of the enormous success of communities in Washington state with ChartConnect, we studied their unique community-based EMR. What we found was more than just a way to get patient charts into a computer – it was a means to really bring an entire community together." "SureScripts is pleased to be able to augment the ChartConnect prescribing processes," said Kevin Hutchinson, president and CEO of SureScripts. "Their decision to become a SureScripts Certified Solution Provider demonstrates their recognition of the importance of connecting physicians and pharmacists electronically via a neutral and commercial-free network. We applaud their commitment to improving the prescribing process to reduce the potential for medical errors and improve the quality of care for patients." About SureScripts About ChartConnect.com |
